Garden Grove police investigating a domestic violence call early this morning found one man lying face down without a pulse on the floor of a bedroom and another man covered in blood.

Paramedics were called and determined that the victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of his family, was dead. He appeared to have been beaten or strangled to death.
Officers heard yelling and the sounds of a fight in an upstairs bedroom when they arrived at the home in the 1100 block of Sungrove Circle at about 2:30 a.m., according to a police report.

As they approached the bedroom, they heard a woman yelling at someone to stop, according to the report. But before officers could open the closed bedroom door, Isidro opened it from the inside. He was covered in blood.

WESTMINSTER – Three people were tied up while bandits ransacked their house Wednesday in a home-invasion robbery.

Around 9:45 a.m., three middle-aged men knocked on the door of a house in the 15400 block of Summerwood Street, and then forced their way in, police said. They tied up the resident who opened the door, and then restrained the other two people living there, while they searched the house for money, jewelry and a safe, said Det. Dave Ferronato of the Westminster police.

The three victims did not know the three men who robbed them, but could identify two of them if they are caught, Ferronato said

Stanton: Home-invasion robbery

February 27, 2009 by OCCCWS Editor · Leave a Comment

A man who targeted a grandmother in a home-invasion robbery in Stanton may have committed five other home robberies in Orange County over the past two months or so, a sheriff’s spokesman said Thursday.

The man entered a home on the 7300 block of Cerritos Avenue through a garage door apparently left open and pointed a chrome-plated handgun at the head of a 58-year-old woman, grabbed her by the hair and pushed her into a rear bedroom, said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect may be the same man who has carried out five other similar robberies in surrounding cities in the past two months or so, Amormino said.

A man in his 30s tried to lure a 10-year-old boy into his SUV by inviting him to go to a party on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

The boy talked briefly with the man, then became frightened and ran to his house and his parents, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

This morning, authorities released a sketch of the man who tried to lure the boy in the 30 block of Downing Street. He was described as in his 30s, with blond or light brown hair and a goatee, wearing a black T-shirt with the word “Quiksilver” on it and an earring in his right ear.

Authorities said the man might have been spotted in the area the day before the attempted abduction and that he may be living in or familiar with the area.

Santa Ana: 3 people shot in separate attacks in less than 24 hours

February 19, 2009 by OCCCWS Editor · Leave a Comment

Police are investigating three separate shootings that left three people injured in less than 24 hours.

The first shooting occurred at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 1700 block of South Evergreen Street as a 19-year-old man was driving down an alley approaching Occidental Street, said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Stephen Colon.

The Santa Ana man told police he was turning east onto Occidental Street when he heard shots being fired and realized he had been struck, Colon said.

The second shooting occurred at 8 p.m. in an alley in the 1400 block of South Townsend Street near Raitt Street and Edinger Avenue, Colon said.

Officers were sent to the area near Gerald P. Carr Intermediate School after reports of shots being fired, but did not find a victim. A short time later, hospital staff called police about a young man who had arrived suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower body, Colon said.

The 15-year-old victim told police he was walking to the east alley of Townsend Street with friends when a man got out of a vehicle and shot him for no apparent reason, Colon said.

The third shooting occurred shortly before 11 p.m. at Occidental and Evergreen streets, near the site of the first shooting.

Officers went to the area after reports of shots being fired and a man down on the sidewalk, Colon said. They found a 27-year-old Santa Ana man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The Sheriff, a gun and a gang attack

The Sheriff, a gun and a gang attack

Last week Willie Holmes, the African American pastor of a Fullerton church, was attacked by several Latino members of a notorious Fullerton street gang. The gang members threw beer bottles, rocks and bricks at a church member’s car and followed Pastor Willie Holmes, his children and two church members to the church where they threw rocks and bricks through the glass doors of the office, shattering two windows and hitting Pastor Holmes.

This violent crime should bring enhanced hate crime charges as well as gang enhancements, but it also points out a flaw in the “may issue” for “cause” policies in place at the OCSD under Sheriff Hutchins. Under Sheriff Hutchins CCW policy, Pastor Willie Holmes would most likely be denied a CCW permit.

Despite being physically attacked for what may very well be racially motivated reasons, Pastor Willie Holmes is left powerless to protect himself or his family. I guess reasons like “I’m a free citizen of the United States” and the protection of self and family don’t fly with Sheriff Hutchins.

Sheriff Hutchins would rather limit the right of law-abiding citizens to own and carry guns, if they so choose, than to uphold the United States Constitution.
