ANAHEIM - A 15-yer-old boy walking home from school was stabbed this afternoon during a possible gang-related attack, police said.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. near an apartment complex in the 3400 block of W. Del Monte Dr. near Knott Avenue, said Sgt. Tim Schmidt of the Anaheim Police Department.

The boy was stabbed in the abdomen and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, Schmidt said. The boy’s condition had stabilized, he said.

“The stabbing appears to be gang-related,” Schmidt said.

A description of the attacker or attackers was not immediately available and it was unclear which school the boy attends, Schmidt said.

Anyone with information about the stabbing or the attackers is asked to call Anaheim police detectives at 714-765-1944.
