Fullerton: woman wakes to bedside burglar
March 22, 2010 by OCCCWS Editor
A Fullerton woman called police after she woke to see a burglar in her apartment complex, police reports say.
A police official said officers couldn’t determine why the alleged burglar did not run away, but the police found him in front of the building when they arrived.
Fullerton Police Sgt Andrew Goodrich said that 911 dispatchers received a call from a woman at 1:56 a.m. Saturday from a complex on the 2300 block of West Roberta Avenue. She said she awoke to find the man, a stranger, standing over her bed, Goodrich said.
Police arrested Santo Pineda, 35, of Anaheim out in front of the complex in connection with the burglary. Goodrich said that the man was arguing with a family member of the woman who reported the burglary.
Further investigation showed that a window screen was pried open, which is where police assume Pineda entered, Goodrich said. He said Pineda offered police conflicting stories to explain why he was in the apartment.
Pineda could face a burglary charge, Goodrich said.
